Thimble Films
Founded by Louisa Connolly-Burnham, Thimble Films is quietly producing some of the most exciting short film work in Britain right now.
Their short Sister Wives won over 50 awards at more than 100 international festivals, was acquired by Film4 and Channel 4, and was longlisted for both the Oscars and BAFTAs. Bold, female-led, and entirely uncompromising. -

Apatan Productions
Co-founded by Joan Iyiola in 2018, Apatan Productions is a London-based film and television company built on a mission of hope, humour, and counter-narrative.
Their debut short Dọlápọ̀ Is Fine screened at over 150 festivals, won the HBO Short Film Award, and is now on Netflix. Their film Mango is streaming on Disney+ UK and Europe.

Sarah Solemani
Actress, writer, activist, and one of the most versatile creative forces working in British and American television today.
From writing on HBO's Barry to adapting Ridley Road for BBC One, to co-creating Chivalry and preparing to write and direct her first feature, Sarah Solemani is the kind of multi-hyphenate who makes everything she touches politically sharp and completely compelling. -

Alicia Malone
Australian-American film historian, TCM host, author, and one of the most dedicated advocates for women in cinema working today.
Her three books, Backwards and in Heels, The Female Gaze, and Girls on Film, are essential reading for anyone who cares about women's place in film history.
Alicia has given TEDx talks on underrepresentation, hosted the landmark Women Make Film series on TCM, and has spent her career refusing to let women's stories be forgotten. A true champion. -

Joan Iyiola
British-Nigerian actress, writer, director, producer, and co-founder of both Apatan Productions and The Mono Box.
Joan became the first Black woman to play the Duchess of Malfi in a major production, and went on to co-write, produce, and star in Dọlápọ̀ Is Fine, which won the HBO Short Film Award, screened at over 150 festivals worldwide, and is now streaming on Netflix and Disney+. Her film Mango is now on Disney+ UK and Europe.

Kiran Benawra
Writer, producer, and a Cariad collaborator whose work across film, television, theatre, and audio consistently puts sharp, funny, female and South Asian voices at the centre.

Barrington Robinson
Liverpool-based creative producer and founder of Redbag Pictures.
A Screen International Star of Tomorrow, UKFC Breakthrough Brit, BAFTA Elevate alumnus and BFI Insight producer, Barrington is one of the most decorated independent producers working in the North of England. His credits span award-winning short films through to television drama, and he is represented by Independent Talent. -

Sophie Willan
Triple BAFTA-winning writer, actor, comedian, and executive producer from Bolton.

Darren Jeffries
Warrington-born actor, director and producer, and founder of Ludovico Media.
A professional creative since the age of 15, Darren spent a decade as a cast member on Channel 4's Hollyoaks before building a career as a presenter, voice actor and filmmaker. He founded Ludovico to bring purposeful, community-rooted storytelling to the North West, working across short film, theatre and branded content. -

Jess Bartlett
Award-winning writer and producer, and co-founder of Terror Arcade, a South West-based horror production company whose lockdown short Time Out accumulated over 100 million views online.
Jess co-created the Scream Queens lab with Cariad, championing female and non-binary voices in horror. With a BFI London Film Festival selection, HBO Max credits, and a debut feature in development, Jess is building something remarkable. -

Ethan Evans
Writer/director from Bristol, and co-founder of Terror Arcade.
Specialising in dark genre and horror, in 2018, Ethan co-founded Terror Arcade, an independent horror production company whose lockdown short Time Out accumulated over 100 million views online.
His short Outside Noise premiered at the 68th BFI London Film Festival in 2024 and was shortlisted for the Sony Future Filmmaker Awards 2025, reaching the top 0.1% of global submissions. Ethan made his television debut in 2021, writing and directing episodes of The Haunted Museum for Discovery+. -

Nathaniel Lloyd Richards
Manchester-based poet, documentary filmmaker and founder of What's The Plan Productions.
Born to Caribbean parents with roots in Jamaica and St Kitts and Nevis, Nathaniel's work is rooted in amplifying stories from underrepresented communities. An award-winning documentarian and published poet, his films include Drowning: The Art of Survival and Ode to Black Women, and he is co-producer of the Manchester Fringe Film Festival.
